Animal Welfare

Currently, 3 million cats and dogs are euthanized in shelters across the United States due to overcrowding and sickness. Target Zero was created as a means to 1) build out a ‘best practices’ program, drawing from the small handful of existing ‘no kill’ successes, and 2) mobilize an innovative mentorship delivery system of that program, city by city, for far more significant speed and scale. Launched in 2013, Target Zero has gotten 21 Fellow Cities to ‘zero’, with dozens more well on their way.

Target Zero

Target Zero mentors proven 'best practices' to shelter and animal welfare leaders, city by city, to get them to zero euthanasia of all adoptable shelter animals.
